While talking about the best Android skin, the One UI comes first in most of the scenarios, whether in terms of the user interface, features, and UX. I myself is using the One UI ever since its first version and believe me, it has a lot to offer.
It is much productive than any other skin once you get involved. Features like a direct reply from notifications, search webpages from the picture shot itself, easy switching between apps, and the bulk of customizable option with Samsung Good Lock makes it more adorable.
Meanwhile, there might be some things that you won’t like about the One UI such as the lack of in-display fingerprint scanner animations, lack of Good Lock support to the budget models, and anything else that doesn’t suit you or was expected with the One UI and didn’t get. Here in this article, I have mentioned some of the tine things I discovered and like about the One UI and my honest opinion goes with it.
Tiny Samsung’s One UI features I found to be useful
What I like the most about One UI is the suggestion it gives in the Settings of the device, which is I think done through AI. In contrast, when a user search for anything in the Settings, at the bottom there are several other suggestions present that help him in finding the option he/she is searching for.

There’s one more hidden yet very useful feature that you might not have noticed as of now, I admire it the most after I got to know it. Though, I am not sure if it is available on any other Android custom skin. This mighty feature lets you search the webpage from the Gallery itself if you took its screenshot.
You can try it right now on your device with One UI 2.0 or above, (believe me you’re gonna thank me later) go to any website on the web and take the screenshot of that webpage, now go to Gallery > the screenshot and then at the bottom hit the option which says ‘Go to website’.
The dark mode (also known as night mode) is everlasting in One UI, its so friendly that I can even recommend Samsung to use it on its default UI. The theme in the dark mode is very well optimized, it is easy to understand and didn’t confuse the user while frequently switching between the light and dark mode. Even scheduling the dark mode is possible, so that the UI automatically changes from light to theme as per the user’s wish. There is no such major thing that I would want Samsung to upgrade in dark mode as of now.
Samsung has its own customizable tool called Good Lock that can completely change the look of your Samsung device. But wait, this feature is only applicable for flagships and mid-range devices.
Every single thing that you can think of in the UI is customizable with Good Lock, whether it’s the lock screen, the home screen, apps, call display, status bar, notification panel, and much more. One of the things that I think Samsung should do is to provide this one on its budget devices.
Samsung AOD blooms but it still needs an upgrade!
The AOD feature of the Samsung phones provides you with all the essential information on the go. I have various experiences with this one, whenever I want to check the time, battery status, and new notifications, just look at the display without unlocking or anything else, it’s always there. Also, its scheduling feature is the one worth using, this way, you can give some time off to the AOD.
Samsung has introduced the Always-on Display way back with its flagship phones but the company hasn’t made any major upgrade to this one. Whereas taking inspirations from the Korean tech firm, OnePlus has improved its AOD over these last couple of OxygenOS updates.
The newest one (OxygenOS 11) brings the Canvas AOD function which is the next level. Samsung needs to do some work over here, we expect the upcoming One UI version to bring so.
What’s the latest on One UI?
One UI 4.0 is incoming as Samsung’s custom Android interface and it will be based on Android 12. The newest version will bring more new tweaks to the already installed One UI version. Well, before the One UI 4.0, the South Korean tech giant will release one more One UI 3 variant.
Following the previous generations (One UI 2.0 >> One UI 2.1 >> One UI 2.5), we were expecting the One UI 3.5 before the Android 12. But Samsung got some twist in that too, it is believed that the One UI 3.5 will be replaced by One UI 3.1.1.
This means that the next version will be a sub-version of One UI 3.1 and not One UI 3.0. This might be surprising, but it makes sense because the One UI 3.5 (now One UI 3.1.1) won’t have many new features to be called a major one. Though still, we have some doubts over this naming scheme that will be cleared off in the coming days.
What upcoming One UI 4.0 (Android 12) have to offer?
Every new One UI version comes with a bunch of new features and functionalities to make user’s life more interesting while using the Samsung device. Well, as of now there are no such confirmed features of the upcoming One UI 4.0 that we can promise you right now. But we do have a little hint for them after Google announced the Android 12.
The new One UI version is expected to bring in some drastic changes in the UI and some functionalities as well. Looking at the Android 12 beta updates, there will a more personalized experience, smoother animations, redesigned system spaces such as the notifications shade, quick settings, power button, and more.
Though there is still some time for us to keep guessing and suggesting to Samsung, all those features and improvements we expect in the upcoming Android 12 based One UI 4.0.
