    Apple Notes received some exciting updates with iOS 18 last year, including features like sections that can be folded away, highlighting in different colors, and even recording audio with text transcripts. But there’s one new feature that I’ve been wishing for, which has made a difference for those who use Notes a lot.

    Quick Note Switching in iOS 18

    I’ve got over 2,500 notes stored in Apple Notes. As someone who uses this app daily, I’ve always found one issue annoying: moving from one note to another.

    Usually, it’s not a big deal, but when I need to toggle between a couple of notes quickly, things can get a bit slow. With all those notes, my app is organized into lots of folders and sub-folders, making the task of jumping from one note to another quite a hassle.

    Thankfully, iOS 18 brought a fix for this problem, especially handy for avid Notes users.

    The Recent Notes Feature in Apple Notes

    There’s now a new option in the top-right corner of the Notes app under a three-dot menu, named ‘Recent Notes’. This menu lists the last 10 notes you’ve looked at on your device. You can simply tap on any note in this list to switch to it without having to dig through your folders. This simple addition has transformed how I move between notes, making it much faster and less frustrating.

    While I would appreciate if Apple could make this process even quicker, maybe with one less tap, the change in iOS 18 is certainly a step in the right direction. It’s made my experience with Apple Notes significantly better.

    The latest Apple Music Replay playlist for 2025 is now ready for you to check out. Many users have noticed that this year’s Replay playlist has appeared in their music collections today.

    Apple Music Replay keeps track of your favorite songs, albums, and artists all year long. This playlist isn’t static; it changes throughout the year, giving you a glimpse of your music tastes up to the current month. By December, you’ll have a complete summary of your year in music.

    This feature is great for Apple Music fans because it lets you keep tabs on your music habits as the year goes by. Currently, the Replay ’25 playlist shows your listening trends from January 2025, and it will keep updating as the year moves forward.

    To find your Replay playlist, just go to the bottom of the Home screen in your Apple Music app. Once you see the playlist card, you can tap it and save it to your Library for quick access later. It will refresh itself with your most recent listening activities.

    For more insights, you can visit the Apple Music Replay website. There, you can see stats like how many minutes you’ve listened, who your top artists and albums are, and if you’ve hit any listening milestones. These details will grow with each passing month, starting from January 2025.

    Wildfires rage in LA as evacuation alert triggers panic, Apple offers relief to affected Apple Card holders

    California has been battling wildfires for some time now, and officials have relied heavily on emergency alerts to keep residents informed. However, a technical glitch caused a major scare on Thursday evening when a county-wide evacuation alert went out to all iPhones and Android devices in Los Angeles, even though it was only intended for a specific area.  

    The erroneous alert created mass confusion on social media as residents questioned the legitimacy of the order. Thankfully, corrected messages followed within minutes, but the incident highlights the potential for panic with such systems. This isn’t the first time either, as a similar false ballistic missile alert caused widespread fear in Hawaii back in 2018.  

    While the fire situation remains critical, with reports of at least five fatalities and thousands displaced, there’s also a beacon of hope. Apple CEO Tim Cook announced a donation to support victims and recovery efforts, and Apple Card users affected by the wildfires can now breathe a sigh of relief.

    Apple and Goldman Sachs are offering temporary assistance to Apple Card holders living in disaster zones declared by FEMA. This program allows them to skip their next monthly payment without incurring any interest charges. Additionally, accounts in good standing will remain current while enrolled, and past due accounts won’t accrue further late fees during this period.

    To access this program, impacted Apple Card users can simply contact Apple Card Support through the Messages app on their iPhones. Here’s a quick guide: 

    1. Open the Wallet app and tap on your Apple Card.
    2. Select the “More” button followed by “Account Details.”
    3. Tap the “Message” button and enter a message like “I would like to learn more about payment assistance plan options.”

One of the most convenient methods, in my opinion, is leveraging the iPhone’s Action Button (for those models that have it).     But the integration doesn’t stop there. The “Type to Siri” control can also be added to the Control Center, providing another quick access point. Furthermore, for those who prefer to keep their Action Button assigned to other functions, you can even add the control to the Lock Screen, replacing the Flashlight or Camera shortcut. This level of customization is a testament to Apple’s focus on user experience.

    Imagine quickly needing to set a reminder during a meeting – a discreet tap of the Action Button, a few typed words, and you’re done. Simply upload your photo and type in the description. The app then generates several variations based on your input, allowing you to choose the one you like best.

    Apple has also included curated themes, places, costumes, and accessories to inspire your creations. These suggestions provide a starting point for experimentation and help you discover the app’s full potential.

    It’s important to note that the images generated by “Image Playground” are not intended to be photorealistic. Instead, they embrace a more artistic and stylized aesthetic, leaning towards animation and illustration. This artistic approach gives the app a distinct personality and encourages creative exploration.

    The integration of “Image Playground” extends beyond the standalone app. You can also access it directly within other apps like Messages, Keynote, Pages, and Freeform. This seamless integration makes it easy to incorporate your creations into various contexts, from casual conversations to professional presentations. Apple has also made an API available for third-party developers, opening up even more possibilities for integration in the future.5

    It’s worth mentioning that while iOS 18.2 is available on a wide range of devices, the “Image Playground” app and other Apple Intelligence features are currently limited to newer models, including the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and the iPhone 16 series.6 This limitation is likely due to the processing power required for on-device image generation.
