    Apple has just released the test version of macOS Sequoia 15.3, and if everything goes smoothly, this will be the version that everyone can use soon.
    What’s New in macOS Sequoia 15.3?
    This update brings some exciting features and fixes:
    • Genmoji: Now you can create these fun emojis in Messages and other apps, thanks to Apple’s smart tech.
    • Calculator Improvements: Click the equals sign again, and it will do the last calculation you made again.
    • Notification Management: If you have a newer Mac, you can now manage your notification settings right from the lock screen. Also, the look of summarized notifications has changed to use italics and a special icon, making them stand out from others.
    • News & Entertainment Notifications: These are on hold for now, but they’ll be back for those who want them once the feature is ready again.
    Please note, not all features will work everywhere or on every Apple device.

    The new iOS 18.3 update is almost here, and it brings some changes to how you use AI on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

    Apple Intelligence Now On By Default

    Before, if you wanted to use Apple’s AI features, you had to turn them on yourself when updating to iOS 18.1 or 18.2. But with iOS 18.3, these AI features will turn on automatically when you update your device.

    Here’s what this means:

    • If you’re new to iOS 18.3 or upgrading, Apple Intelligence will automatically start working once you set up your phone. You’ll need to go into your settings to turn these features off if you don’t want them. Just go to the Apple Intelligence & Siri settings and switch off the AI.
    • The same goes for iPads and Macs with the new updates.

    After months of AI Being Available

    Most people who can use Apple’s AI have already turned it on. But for those who haven’t, the update will do it for you.

    There’s one question, though. What if you turned AI off before? Will it turn back on with this update? We’ll need to wait for the official release to know for sure.

    This update doesn’t add many new things, but it does change how notifications work with AI, which has been a hot topic. Apple seems to think that after some time with AI out there, it’s time to make it default.

    New iPad Pro expected to launch in 2025

    Apple is set to launch a new iPad Pro this year, according to a report from the Korean site, The Elec. It looks like both the 11-inch and 13-inch versions will get an update at the same time.

    iPad Pro 2024

    The report suggests that this year’s iPad Pro won’t see big changes; it’ll just have some small upgrades. It will probably look a lot like the current models, so don’t expect a new look. The main update will likely be in the specs.

    The focus of the report is on LX Semicon from South Korea possibly providing display drivers for these new iPads. They’re planning to start making parts in April or May, which means we won’t see these iPads until later in the year.

    Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman mentioned earlier that Apple might have its new M5 chip ready for the iPad Pro by late 2025 or early 2026.

    The latest iPad Pros with OLED screens and the M4 chip came out in May 2024.

    In the early part of this year, Apple should also release new versions of the iPad Air and the basic iPad 11. These are expected around March or April. Gurman says the iPad 11 will have an A17 Pro chip and 8GB of RAM to handle Apple Intelligence, while a leak suggests the iPad Air will get an M3 chip.

    There’s no clear news on an iPad mini update this year. Since it usually gets updated every few years and just got the A17 Pro last year, it might skip an update in 2025.

The ban, initiated by a law signed by President Biden in April 2024, required TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, to divest within nine months or face a ban. That deadline hit on January 19, leading to a brief blackout of the app.

    However, thanks to an assurance from Trump, service providers like Oracle have continued supporting TikTok, risking hefty fines, while tech giants like Apple and Google remain cautious, not re-listing the app.

    For existing iPhone users, this means you can still use TikTok if you have it installed, but no new downloads or updates are available through the App Store. The app’s core functionalities are intact, including TikTok Shop, but new in-app purchases are off-limits, although web purchases remain accessible.

    Apple is embroiled in legal challenges stemming from allegations of sourcing “conflict minerals” from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). These minerals, including tin, tantalum, and tungsten, known collectively as 3T, alongside gold, are termed “blood minerals” due to their association with human rights abuses, including child labor, which allegedly fund armed conflicts.

    The complaints have been lodged in Belgium and France, jurisdictions known for their rigorous corporate accountability laws. Recently, Belgian authorities have escalated the matter by launching an official investigation.

    While Apple does not directly buy these minerals, they are crucial components in the electronics supply chain, eventually making their way into Apple products. The company has historically conducted audits to ensure its supply chain remains untainted by conflict minerals. For instance, in 2019, Apple excluded several smelters and refiners from its supply chain for failing these audits.

    However, lawyers representing Congo claim they informed Apple CEO Tim Cook of potential issues in April, highlighting possible mineral smuggling through neighboring countries like Rwanda, Uganda, and Burundi.
