Google Fi coverage is expanding with new W+ network Wi-Fi service

Google Fi W+ network

In 2020, Area 120 Google’s internal incubator introduced Orion WiFi, which allows public venues such as malls, shopping complexes, and more to sell Wi-Fi capacity to cellular carriers like Google Fi.  In the latest move, Google Fi has quietly launched the W+ network of Wi-Fi hotspots for Fi users using the above tech.

As per the information, the new Google W+ network service is available for Fi users. When you are in closed areas, you’ll be connected to the W+ network. To be mentioned, W+ uses select secure, high-quality Wi-Fi networks to improve your mobile data connection.

Notably, W+ is mainly available in low-coverage like airports, malls, stadiums, shopping complexes, and grocery stores, and the coverage will expand over time. To be mentioned, W+ never connects automatically when any of your saved Wi-Fi networks are available nearby.

How Google Fi W+ network works:

Your Google Pixel device will automatically get connected with W+ when you are in range. The W+ uses normal data and uses counts against your data cap for the month. If you are on postpaid plans, you will be charged for standard data use on W+.
