The main highlight of this release is a security update for Windows 10, including fixes, and Microsoft also lists known issues in the update. Microsoft has fixed several bugs, including an issue where certain applications such as Outlook or Excel would not start. Another bug has been fixed where Internet Explorer mode in Microsoft Edge will not work properly and users will experience window frame issues.

Previously, Windows 10 users reported a nasty bug that caused apps to crash with useless messages. As a result, some users have paused their Windows updates to minimize app crashes. The bug occurs when users open their favorite applications using the .NET Framework, and this only affects users who have the latest update.

Windows 10Microsoft has finally fixed the remaining app compatibility issues, and most apps should work fine on Windows 10. Microsoft is adding support for sorting version 6.4.3, which will address an issue affecting Japanese half-width katakana. Another bug has been fixed preventing users from bypassing forced registration when logging into Azure Active Directory (AAD).

Most bug fixes are obviously aimed at enterprise customers. For example, Microsoft fixed an issue that caused AnyCPU applications to run 32-bit processes. Another bug has been fixed where Azure Desired State Configuration (DSC) scenarios with multiple partial configurations did not work as expected.

Microsoft has fixed an issue affecting remote procedure calls to the Win32_User or Win32_Group WMI classes. Another bug has been fixed that would cause problems when adding trusted users, groups, or computers with one-way trusts.

Likewise, Windows 10 addresses a rare issue that prevents Excel or Outlook from opening. Microsoft has also fixed an issue affecting “24 hours a week use” on Windows systems.

Below is a list of all bug fixes and improvements:

  • Fixed an issue affecting Internet Explorer modal window frames.

  • Fixed an issue that caused printing to fail.

  • Fixed an issue preventing BitLocker encryption.

  • Fixed issues affecting mouse cursor behavior and shape orientation. The list of affected applications includes Microsoft Defender Application Guard (MDAG), Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Edge.

  • Fixed a reliability issue in the Terminal Services Gateway (TS Gateway) service.

  • Windows Search highlighting now works correctly when the device is joined to a domain.

  • Fixed the problem that the input method editor displayed the wrong image.

  • Fixed an issue that caused a yellow exclamation mark.

  • Fixed an issue preventing recovery from recovery discs (CD or DVD) created using the Windows 7 Backup and Restore application in Control Panel.

Likewise, the latest patch for Windows 10 fixes a critical bug that crashed some applications using the built-in GPU. Microsoft has also fixed an issue that could cause the application to close unexpectedly or cause intermittent if the application uses Direct3D 9.

Notably, Windows 10 version 20H2 and Windows 10 version 1909 have been out of service. Also, while not Windows 10, Microsoft has released update KB5014678 for Windows Server 2022.
