Nokia reached a record-breaking 10Gbps rate in its latest 5G live site demonstration with Optus. Recently, Nokia and Optus achieved a record-breaking 10Gbps total site throughput when they performed a downlink speed demonstration in the 800MHz millimeter-wave frequency band at a 5G site in Brisbane.

The site uses Nokia AirScale device drivers to demonstrate the great potential of millimeter waves. Once deployed, the speed and capacity enhancements stimulated by the 5G millimeter-wave layer will bring lightning speeds to consumers and enterprises, and can support a series of new low-latency, high-bandwidth services.

The demonstration was carried out in Brisbane, a mixed commercial and industrial area, and Nokia’s 5G millimeter wave technology lived up to expectations and successfully achieved an ultra-high-speed data rate of 10Gbps.

It not only proves the capabilities of Nokia’s 5G millimeter wave technology and the advantages of applying it to existing 5G/4G base stations but also further demonstrates the practical advantages of millimeter wave for new enterprise use cases, allowing more people to understand this new technology.

In the future, Nokia’s 5G millimeter wave technology will also help Optus to take full advantage of 5G’s scalability and automation, and focus on the development of enterprise market services. Relying on Nokia’s solutions, Optus can explore new use cases in various industries such as healthcare, mining, port operations, and smart manufacturing.
