The latest data from the research organization Omdia shows that Mini LED TV shipments will reach about 2 million units in 2021, while shipments of OLED TVs are expected to reach about 6.5 million units during the same period, more than three times the former.

Moreover, Omdia has been raising its OLED TV shipment prediction. In contrast, it originally expected that Mini LED TV shipments in May would reach 1.8 million units, but later lowered this expectation.

According to its latest forecast, among the 2 million Mini LED TVs expected to be shipped this year, Samsung’s 1.5 million and LG’s 300,000 will be occupied by Chinese companies.

According to the Korean media TheElec report, Samsung’s goal is to ship 3 million Mini LED TVs under the Neo QLED TV brand next year.

In the first half of this year, the price of LCD panels used in Mini LED TVs rose, and the price gap with OLED panels narrowed. At the same time, as LG starts mass production at its Guangzhou factory, the price of OLED panels is falling. This makes OLED TVs more competitive in price.
