SK Hynix sales in the Q3 raised by 45.2% year-on-year: Report

According to the latest report, chip manufacturer SK Hynix announced strong results in the third quarter of 2021 as of September 30, 2021, mainly due to the strong demand for memory chips used in servers and smartphones.

In the third quarter of 2021, the company’s sales increased by 45.2% year-on-year to 11.8 trillion won, a record for a single season, and exceeded 10 trillion won for two consecutive quarterly operating profit was 4.17 Trillion won, in line with market expectations, a year-on-year increase of 220.4%. This is the first time since the fourth quarter of 2018 to exceed 4 trillion won.

Due to tight supply and soaring demand, pushed up chip profit margins, and the company’s profit this quarter was higher than that of the whole of last year. In the third quarter of 2021, the company made a net profit of 3.31 trillion won, a year-on-year increase of 205.7% compared with the same period last year.

As for the fourth quarter of 2021, SK Hynix expects that both DRAM and NAND shipments will increase, as the demand for server DRAM in data centers will increase, and the demand for smartphones at the end of the year will push up mobile NAND sales.

Currently, SK Hynix is ​​trying to acquire Intel’s NAND flash memory and SSD business. The company expects to complete the acquisition of Intel’s NAND and SSD businesses before the end of this year to enhance the competitiveness of the NAND Flash business.
