Sony decided not to close PS Store for PlayStation 3 and PS Vita

PlayStation 5

Last month, Sony announced the closure of the PS Store for PlayStation 3, PS Vita, and PSP. Many gamers and users of the company’s online store were critical of the solutions.

As a result, Sony, listening to the audience, decided not to cover up the digital store for the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita. At the same time, the PSP store will still stop working – the shutdown is scheduled for July 2, 2021.

“We came to decide to end support for PS3 and PS Vita, as we had previously experienced problems with commercial support for older devices. It also gave us the ability to focus our resources on new devices that most of our gamers play on.

Now we see that many of you would like to keep buying classic titles for PS3 and PS Vita. I’m glad we were able to find a solution to keep these stores running, ”said Jim Ryan, President, and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment.

On the other hand,  Microsoft has begun beta testing its cloud service Xbox Cloud Gaming in Edge, Google Chrome, and Safari browsers. Launching this service in a browser will allow you to access the Xbox Gamepass library and cloud gaming even on low-power PCs and iOS mobile devices. In this case, the installation of special applications is not required.

Beta testing of cloud gaming in browsers will be closed for now. Microsoft will be sending out invitations to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate users in 22 countries where Xbox Cloud Gaming officially launched. Russia and other Russian-speaking countries are not on this list yet.
