TSMC answers to the request for submission of chip supply chain information to the US

A spokesperson for chip foundry giant TSMC said TSMC has responded to the US Department of Commerce’s request for submitting supply chain information to help solve the global chip shortage problem while ensuring that no customer-specific data is disclosed in this submission.

Moreover, South Korea’s Ministry of Finance said earlier TSMC would submit some semiconductor data to the United States. Korean media previously reported that South Korean companies will only “partially comply” with the US Department of Commerce’s information request requirements.

In September, the US Department of Commerce required companies in the semiconductor supply chain to fill out a questionnaire before November 8 to learn about the current shortage of chips.
