However, it has not and will not provide confidential data. As the company’s chief legal officer said a few days ago: “TSMC will not provide confidential data, let alone do anything that harms the rights and interests of customers and shareholders.”

Moreover, the US Department of Commerce held a semiconductor summit on September 23. TSMC, Intel, Samsung, Micron, and various industry giants attended.

Furthermore, facing the problem of chip shortages, the US Department of Commerce requires semiconductor companies such as TSMC and Samsung to hand over data such as inventory, orders, and sales records that are regarded as trade secrets.

The US Department of Commerce pointed out on the 21st that Intel, Infineon, and other companies have indicated that they will provide data within the deadline and encourage other companies to follow up. As for whether to use compulsory measures, it depends on how many companies respond and the quality of the information provided.
