Recently the security researchers have discovered a new kind of malware named ‘Masquerades’. This spyware can be a threat to your Android device and may take your data away. The reports suggest that this threat was found in the app called the ‘System Update’ which could be installed outside of the Play Store.
Spyware is a kind of software that is usually used by cybercriminals to steal or take control over the data of the users that may include any kind of media such as images, video, documents, and much more.
When the user launches the app, the spyware breaches the user’s data and sent all the crucial data to the operator’s server without any kind of permission. This malware was found by the mobile security firm Zimperium which claims that it can remotely access the user device and can steal and manipulate any kind of user activity while operating the smartphone.
The CEO of the company appreciated this virus and said that it’s an amazing software that wasn’t found until now. If you don’t want to get in such trouble then you should avoid downloading any kind of third-party applications.
“It’s easily the most sophisticated we’ve seen,” said Zimperium CEO Shridhar Mittal. “I think a lot of time and effort was spent on creating this app. We believe that there are other apps out there like this, and we are trying our very best to find them as soon as possible.”
As technology is taking a lead in the industry these kinds of cybercrime are increasing day by day. One would be aware of them in order to be safe and keep the smartphone updated to the latest security patch along with a healthy antivirus.
