Third party apps can no longer change Sharesheet in Android 12 and use the default one

Android 12

Many Android apps support the sharing function. When the user clicks the sharing button, if the sharing function is not implemented by itself, the sharing function of the Android system will be invoked.

In addition, there are also many third-party sharing apps on the market, which are more functionally easier to use and can be used to replace the options that come with the Android system.

However, Google will prohibit third parties on Android 12 from sharing apps, and can only use the native interface of the Android system.

According to reports, the developer of the Android sharing menu App Shared recently stated that an error occurred in the adaptation of Android 12. The system no longer prompts to select Shared or the system’s native sharing page, but directly calls the latter.

When he submitted this error to Google, Google officially responded:

“We do not allow third-party sharing methods. This selection interface is used to select App, not to replace sharing.”

It is not yet clear whether this change will affect OEM manufacturers, such as Samsung, LG, etc., who have modified their sharing pages. But it is not expected to affect the built-in sharing page of the App, because that is another way to achieve it.
