Huawei smartphones have already started receiving January 2021 security updates, Meanwhile, the company is still sending December 2020 security improvements for its several devices including flagships. Likewise, now the Huawei Mate 40 Pro users have started to receive December 2020 security improvements.
The latest update installs December 2021 security update for improved system security and device stability. In addition, it also brings some improvements and optimizations for several functions of the device.
As per the changelog, the update improves the calling experience, optimizes some elements of the UI for an enhanced and seamless user experience with the display. The latest firmware can be identified with the EMUI 11 version 188.8.131.52 along with the update package of 714MB.
It is important to note that these optimizations along with the latest security are currently rolling out for the Mate 40 Pro in Europe and will soon expand to other regions as well. Also, it is rolling out in batches, so it may take some time to reach your device.

Open Settings > then click on System & updates. After opening a Software update, tap on Check for updates option. If the update is available to download then click Download and install. And after installation Reboot the device.

Open the Support app on your device and then go to the Service tab. Click on the Update button and then tap on Check for update option. If the update is available then click on Download and install. After installation Reboot the device.
