Huawei removes the P20 series from its regular EMUI security update list but adds Mate 30, 30 Pro and Honor 9X

According to the latest announcement, Huawei has changed the list of Huawei devices for monthly and quarterly EMUI security updates. The company has added a few new devices (Huawei Mate 30, 30 Pro, and Honor 9X) and delisted a few including the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro (via Huawei Central).

Huawei P20 and P20 Pro were listed in the monthly security patch section but now these devices are stepped down from their places. Since the P20 users have a pending EMUI 10 upcoming, these devices may get more updates in the upcoming months.

Here’s the list of eligible Huawei and Honor devices that will get EMUI 11 and Magic UI 4.0

However, removal from the list is a sign that the time for security patches may come to an end for Huawei P20 and P20 Pro. This may not happen sometime soon after upgrading to EMUI 10.

Last week, Huawei P20 series started receiving EMUI 10 in Malaysia. However, a wider rollout is yet to begin including for the European region.

Back in February, Huawei Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, and Mate 10 Porsche Design removed from the security updates cycle. While the users of Huawei Mate 10 series also in the queue waiting for the EMUI 10 upgrade.

In addition, According to the official listing, Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro have now added to the Monthly security update section. While the phone series currently runs on March security update outside of China. Now Honor 9X has also made its debut in the security patch list. Instead of receiving monthly, the Honor 9X will get quarterly updates.
