New HarmonyOS improvements are rolling out the oldest Mate series flagship- Huawei Mate 9. The new update optimizes various scenarios and adds a quick access WLAN and Bluetooth switch in the system for immediate access.

As per the findings from HuaweiCentral, the latest Mate 9 update has HarmonyOS 2.0.0.121 software with a download size of 468MB. Users can find this update on the My Huawei App or download it from the smartphone’s settings.

Speaking of the new changes, it hasn’t brought any security release notes but installs system enhancements. The service widgets, user interface, and display in the smartphone are getting enhanced while it fixes the problem related to font size.

It’s worth mentioning, the Huawei P10 also received the same update with a slightly lower update size of 402MB. However, it’s not surprising as the installation sizes vary according to the smartphone model and regions.

At present, the Huawei Mate 9 undergoing HarmonyOS testing in its home ground while the global versions are working on Android custom skin. It is surprising for Huawei to take this oldest Mate series flagship in the HarmonyOS beta test in China. As for the major EMUI 12 for Global variants, there no official announcement till now.

The Huawei Mate 9 series consist of Huawei Mate 9 standard, Mate 9 Pro, and Mate 9 RS models that initially started to launch in November 2016. The display of the smartphones was as large as 5.90 inches supporting 1080×1920 pixels. Furthermore, the devices pack HiSilicon Kirin 960 chip, 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM, 20MP camera, and 4000mAh battery.
