Huawei Mate 20 X 5G started to receive September 2020 security update (EMUI 10.1.0.166)

Huawei has started to send the latest September security patch for Huawei Mate 20 X (5G) based on EMUI 10.1 that improves system security. The update is rolling out in China. It fixes 3 critical and 19 high-level CVEs.

Following the launch of EMUI 11, Huawei P40 and Mate 30 series already began testing this latest EMUI version but users of Huawei P30 and Mate 20 smartphones still awaiting to receive EMUI 11 on their devices.

  • The update will not erase any data.
  • Maintain enough storage and battery.
  • If possible, connect to Wifi.

UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS:

Through Setting:

  1. Open Settings in your device.
  2. Click on system & updates.
  3. Click on software update.
  4. Check for update
  5. Click on the download button.
  6. Install updates
  7. After completion of the installation, the reboot option appears onscreen.
  8. Reboot the device.

Through Support app:

  1. Open Support app in your device.
  2. If not installed, download it from play store.
  3.  Open service tab.
  4. Tap on update.
  5. Check for updates
  6. Click on the download button.
  7. Install updates
  8. After completion of the installation, the reboot option appears onscreen.
  9. Reboot the device.
