Huawei Watch GT 2 42mm gets third-party app download support after 46mm variant

Huawei started to push a new 11.0.14.57 firmware for the Watch GT 2 42mm variants that brought the third-party app download support. It’ll enable users to download more applications available on the Huawei AppGallery on this watch and deliver a richer user experience.

Notably, the company send the same update for the 46mm variant users of Watch GT 2 last week. However, it was the internal beta update for some selected users of the smartwatch. Now the GT 2 42mm models can have more non-Huawei apps on the system to avail of different kinds of services.

The Huawei Watch GT 2 42mm users are upgrading from 11.0.14.25 to the latest 11.0.14.57 update version. It’s a gradual update that’ll roll out for more regions soon. As of now, users can check the updated content here.

New: Supports the installation of a wealth of third-party apps from the Huawei App Market on the Watch GT 2 42mm. Users can install Heart Health Research App, measure heart health-related data through the watch.
Optimization: Optimize system stability in some scenes.

How to Download the Update:

The Watch GT 2 users can take the help from Huawei Health app to check the availability of the firmware. After connecting the smartphone with the watch, open the app> go to Device tab> select Huawei Watch GT 2> tap on latest update> follow the on-screen instructions. This same procedure is implied on all Huawei smartwatches for checking/downloading the update.

Things to Remember:

There are a few things to remember before installation, ensure a stable and uninterrupted connection between the smartphone and Watch GT 2. Besides, the smartwatch and phone have at least 20% of the battery backup to complete the download process. At last, make sure you are using the latest Huawei Health app and already installed the 11.0.14.25 version on the watch.
