Apple has been testing the iOS and iPadOS 14.4 version for few weeks and now the company has released the latest versions of iOS and iPadOS for all the eligible iPhone and iPad models. The latest version comes with a couple of new features and also fixes some bugs that were previously reported.

It brings new changes to the camera app, fixes the keyboard input lag, and many other optimizations to the iPhones and iPad. Other than the iOS and iPadOS 14.4, the company is also releasing the watchOS 7.3 updates for the eligible Apple Watch users.

iOS 14.4/iPadOS 14.4 features:

With iOS 14.4, iPhones get the support for ‘Time to Walk’ stories in which you can listen to the inspiring stories from the guests while you workout. This feature will be available for the Apple Watch that is running watchOS 7.3 and subscribed for Apple Fitness+.

After installing the latest iOS version on your device you can take advantage of the U1 functionality of HomePod Mini for the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 models. The U1 chip improves the hands with the visual, audible, and haptic effects while you transfer your songs from iPhones to HomePod Mini. This feature is limited to the HomePod mini devices that come with a U1 chip and will only work with the iPhone 11 or iPhone 12 models.

iOS 14.4 and iPadOS 14.4 fixes the following bugs

  • Fitness widget: For some users, the Fitness widget was not displaying updated Activity data.
  • Delayed typing: A bug that could cause typing to be delayed and word suggestions not to appear on the keyboard has been fixed, which should be a relief to the users that have had this problem for quite some time.
  • Messages keyboard: A bug that could cause the incorrect language keyboard to appear in Messages has been fixed.
  • CarPlay News app: There was a bug that could cause audio stories from the News app in CarPlay not to resume after being paused for spoken directions or for Siri, which has been addressed.
  • Switch Control: Turning on the Switch Control feature in Accessibility could prevent phone calls from being answered from the Lock Screen.

iOS 14.4 improvements:

  • Smaller QR codes can be recognized by Camera
  • Option to classify Bluetooth device type in Settings for correct identification of headphones for audio notifications
