Apple shortcuts with multiple actions are faster in iOS 14.6 update: Report

Apple introduces Live Caption for iPhone, inspired by Google

Apple seems to be quietly offering performance enhancements to iOS 14.6 and iPadOS 14.6 for its shortcut function, which was launched on Monday for iPhone and iPad.

Although this feature is not mentioned in the software release notes, users on Reddit are still describing speed improvements when running automation that includes multiple actions.

For example, a user described how the 700 shortcuts they designed to crawl the site have run in 13 seconds since the update to iOS 14.6, compared to about 30 seconds in the previous version.

For shortcuts without many actions, the speed improvement is not very obvious, but for those shortcuts with countless actions, the performance improvement is more obvious.

Apple’s iOS 14.6 update is not as important as its previous iOS 14.5 updates, but it still introduces many notable new features, including support for spatial audio and lossless audio in Apple Music, Apple Card Family, and Apple Podcasts Subscription.
