The Redmi Note 10 lineup consists of three handsets called – Redmi Note 10, Note 10 Pro, and Note 10 Pro Max. However, the base variant starts at INR 11,999, the middle child at INR 15,999, while the most expensive variant goes up to INR 21,999.

Sporting an AMOLED panel, the Note 10 series is the first among Redmi smartphones to offer a 120Hz refresh rate display along with a massive 108-megapixel camera in the most expensive units. Not only hardware, but these phones also come equipped with Android 11-based MIUI 12 and listed to get the 12.5 version of MIUI soon!

Apart from this, every Xiaomi fan was expected, the Redmi Note 10 phones or the top tier of this lineup will feature 5G connectivity support but the company has screwed over the expectations of their fans. Meanwhile, the reason for this move is finally explained by the global vice president of Xiaomi, Manu Kumar Jain. However, I’m not agree with the crazy logic of why the company decided against bringing 5G on Redmi Note 10 phones.

Recently, Xiaomi MD replied to a user – “Right now, there is no 5G network in India. Assuming that the auction happens later this year, it will take at least 2-3 years for 5G to come. By that time, you would have changed the phone. Why pay 4-5K extra for something that you will not use for 2-3 years?”.

With this statement, the Chinese phone maker convinced its loyal consumers to not get disappointed and tried to save the hope of getting a positive response for the Redmi Note 10 series in the market.

On the other hand, we know that Xiaomi has recently launched an affordable 5G smartphone, the Mi 10i that also features a 120Hz higher refresh rate display and 108-megapixel camera. The Mi 10i 5G starts in India at just INR 21,999 while the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max starts at INR 18,999 for a 6/64GB variant. So, we can surely expect that the decision to not add 5G support could also be due to avoid price wars among Xiaomi’s own products.
