You may often need to copy text from an image, whether it’s a screenshot or books, receipts, or any other image you take with your phone. Samsung did not officially provide this function to its users but it has now been changed with the One UI 5.0 Extract text from image feature.

Samsung is still a month away to release the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 stable version for Galaxy customers. However, the company is currently testing the One UI 5.0 Beta version, which is letting us taste the most advanced features on our Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S21 phones.

Samsung is now providing you the ability to extract the text using Samsung Keyboard, Internet, Gallery, or whenever you take a screenshot. You can paste the result into a message, email, or document instead of typing it.

That’s not it, you can also copy text from any board, banner, etc and send it to anyone without capturing its image through Samsung Keyboard.

How to extract text from images:

  • Head over to the Samsung Gallery app.
  • Open any image or screenshot that contains the text.
  • Tap on the image once and you will see a yellow “T” icon at the bottom right of the image.
  • Tap on the “T” icon and select the text you want to copy.
  • Three options will appear: Copy, Select all, and Share.
  • Once copied, you can paste it on any messaging app, notes, etc.

How to extract text from Samsung keyboard:

  • Open the Samsung Keyboard app on any messaging application.
  • Tap on three horizontal dots to open more options.
  • Tap on the Extract text option.
  • A camera will open, you can point the camera toward any banner or etc.
  • Copy the text you want and paste it anywhere.
