Samsung Galaxy S9 getting March 2021 security update in India

Samsung is fulfilling its promise of providing regular security updates for its eligible devices. The company has already released March 2021 security update in other regions and now these latest security improvements are rolling out for the Galaxy S9 users in India.

The new firmware update on the Galaxy S9 and S9+ devices can be identified via the firmware versions G965FXXSFFUB3 and G960FXXSFFUB3 for the Galaxy S9+ and Galaxy S9 respectively and carries a small size of 118MB.

Besides the security improvements, the update does not add any new features to these phones. According to Samsung, the March security patch brings fixes for 4 critical bugs and 26 high-level vulnerabilities.

If you haven’t received the latest firmware on your device via OTA then you can also try and check for the updates manually by going to Settings > Software updates > the Download and install.

Both the Galaxy S9 and Note 9 are no longer eligible for any major upgrade including the latest Android 11, as per Samsung’s new update policy. While the company has also made a new change in terms of security updates.

The South Korean tech giant has clarified that the smartphone in the fourth year of its security update will receive security improvements bi-annually that is two times a year.

Although, the Galaxy Note 9 users are no longer eligible to get any major update including the latest Android 11 based One UI 3.1.
