OnePlus will introduce its own theme store with OxygenOS 12

Meanwhile, the OnePlus users are waiting for the Android 11 based OxygenOS update, the company has already started works for the upcoming OxygenOS 12. OnePlus has brought something new for its users that it may introduce in the upcoming major upgrade.

The OxygenOS software for OnePlus phones provides some customization features. But according to posts on the manufacturer’s forum, they will get more. OnePlus announced that it will add a theme store in the next major Oxygen OS update to reflect similar features in Samsung’s Galaxy custom software.

This is an exciting one for the OnePlus users and if you want to give your opinion for the theme store then you are welcomed. OnePlus will host an “Open Ears” event at 10 am Eastern Time on May 18 (Tuesday) to discuss adding features and collect feedback. Presumably, the company will show some of its designs there, because the image above is what we have to do now.

The themes of various Android phones and the third-party applications that apply them are popular pastimes for the platform. Since OnePlus tends to attract phone buyers who like tinkering, it makes sense to increase support for easy-to-apply theme systems. The “storage” aspect may be free (for example, the “storage” of Chrome OS), or it may provide free and paid user-submitted topics like Samsung.

It is not yet known whether this “next major update” will be delivered with a substantial patch for the current Oxygen OS version, or the users have to wait until Android 12 is ready. Considering how long it took OnePlus to upgrade some of its phones to Android 11, this may take a while.
