PSA: OnePlus confirms three Android OS upgrades for select phones [List]

At the time of merging with Oppo, OnePlus has promised to deliver faster upgrades and tend to work on the software maintenance schedule for its flagships and mid-range devices. Following the promise, the company has also announced its new software upgrade policy which is now satisfying, looking at the prices of its smartphones.

As per the new policy, the OnePlus 8 and newer phones will receive three Android OS upgrades, while the OnePlus Nord phones will get two Android versions, and the Nord N series will be getting a single Android update. This turns out to be a good deal for the OnePlus users or for those who are thinking to buy one.

With this OnePlus competes with Samsung in terms of software upgrades which were already fighting for the hardware. And OnePlus may take a lead this time, though Samsung has its brand values and trust for decades. While we are also waiting to see the software rollout of OnePlus after its merged with Oppo.

Here’s the list of those select OnePlus devices that are promised for three Android OS upgrades:

  • OnePlus 8
  • OnePlus 8 Pro
  • OnePlus 8T
  • OnePlus 9
  • OnePlus 9 Pro
  • OnePlus 9R
  • OnePlus 9T (Yet to be announced/not confirmed)
    • All the upcoming OnePlus flagships

OnePlus 9T to come with ColorOS, Will OnePlus adapt ColorOS globally?

There have been some leaks suggesting that the upcoming OnePlus 9T will come pre-installed with ColorOS globally, while we still wait for the official confirmation to arrive from the company itself. It was known that the OnePlus device in China will have ColorOS running, but the global one is new and somewhat shocking.

If it happens then, what about OxygenOS? Will the OxygenOS also merge with Oppo’s ColorOS. Maybe the time for OxygenOS’ Oppo-fication coming near. There are many questions popping out in the mind of OnePlus users for which they are curiously waiting to get an answer. But unfortunately, there is nothing known about the future of OxygenOS as of now.

In my opinion, the OxygenOS is one of the reasons for the best selling numbers of the OnePlus phones and if it removes this OS in favour of Oppo’s ColorOS, the company might face some decline. The OxygenOS is doing nice lately with its new and advanced features such as the Canvas AOD.

Well, Nothing can be said as of now, what the company decides and how its users will react to it. It’s just the time that will show what’s forthcoming for the OnePlus users. Meanwhile, we can carry out a discussion on this matter in the comments below, where you can share your questions and thoughts.
