Samsung Galaxy S9 January 2021 security update is rolling out now

Samsung Galaxy S9 series are not eligible to get the One UI 3.0 with Android 11 because these smartphones have already completed their major update lifecycle. Aside from the platform updates, the company is committed to providing security updates for two more years.

According to the latest information, Samsung has started releasing the January 2021 security patch for the Galaxy S9 and S9 smartphones. This firmware makes the Galaxy S9 series the second to get the latest security patch. It brings system security improvements and feature enhancements for a better user experience.

This update is initially rolling out from Germany and will soon be expanded in other smartphone markets in the coming hours/days. Till now, Samsung has not released the details of the January 2021’s security patch. The company will also publish the security bulletin in the coming days.

After the Galaxy S9 series, Samsung will soon expand the latest security patch to the other devices. For now, the January 2021 security update is ready to install for the Galaxy S9 and S9+. Follow the steps given below to check for the software updates manually.

Here’s how to check for update:

  • Firstly, open your device Settings
  • Find Software updates category then select it
  • Tap on Download and install button
    • The device will check for the latest OTA
  • If the update has arrived, then click on Download.
