Galaxy Z Flip 3 July 2022 Update

Samsung has started rolling out a new software update for Galaxy Z Flip 3 with the July 2022 Android security patch in the US. The update for the unlocked Galaxy Z Flip 3 in the US comes with firmware version F711U1TBS2DVEG. The OTA (over the air) delivery is already available on several carrier networks, including AT&T and Cellular South.

Samsung’s foldable 2021 clamshell doesn’t seem to be getting any new features or user-facing changes with this update. It’s all about the vulnerability fixes that are part of the July SMR (Security Maintenance Release). At the same time, it fixes dozens of CVE items from Google and Samsung to improve the overall device’s performance.

Meanwhile, the device will be receiving several security updates. If you’re using an unlocked unit in the US, the July SMR is already rolling out to you. Be alert for notifications asking to download an OTA update. You can also check for updates manually from the Settings app under the Software Update menu.

What about Android 13 One UI 5.0?

As for the new features, Samsung is currently working on One UI 4.1. A new version of the custom Android software based on Android 12 will be rolled out to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 next month. It will soon be available on older foldable models, including the Galaxy Z Flip 3. The Android 13 update will arrive a few months later with One UI 5.0.
