Samsung removes the Galaxy S8 and S8+ from the Monthly security patch list, will only receive quarterly update

According to the latest announcement, Samsung has updated the list of its eligible devices for monthly and quarterly security patches. Samsung has delisted the Galaxy S8 and S8+ from the monthly security patch device list and placed them on the quarterly device list.

The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ were listed in the monthly security patch section but now these devices are stepped down from their places. The Galaxy S8 series will continue to receive the security patches for at least 4 times in the next 12 months.

Samsung updated the Galaxy S8 and S8+ with the April 2020 security patch last month. The Galaxy S8 duo has already completed their 3 years of software support.

You can still see the Galaxy S8 Active in the monthly security patch device list, it was launched in August 2017.

About major OS updates, these devices have received 2 major OS update, last major update was Android 9 Pie. But, the company may roll out serious security fix anytime in the future for both of the smartphones.
