Google launches a new ‘Theme Packs’ app to easily change your Pixel’s look

Google has just released a brand-new application on the Play Store, made specifically for owners of Pixel smartphones. It’s called “Theme packs,” and the entire goal is to let people customize how their phone looks with a simple tap.

This new tool is designed to give your phone an instant and complete makeover. When you apply one of these seasonal theme packs, it changes several visual and audio elements all at once.

For instance, it updates your background picture, the main color scheme used across the system, the icons for your apps, the design of your on-screen clock, and all your device sounds—like your ringtone, alarm, and notification pings. It even extends to the Gboard keyboard, likely changing the animated pictures you can use.

The very first theme pack being introduced is titled “Wicked: For Good!” This initial offering includes three distinct styles for users to pick from: one simply named “For Good,” another called “Glinda,” and the third being “Elphaba.”

Before you commit to a new look, the app lets you take a peek at what’s available. After you preview and choose a pack, you can press the “Download” button located in the top-right corner. Once it’s installed on your device, you have control over which parts you want to activate.

You can pick and choose, telling it to “Add sounds” or just “Use wallpaper” if you only want to change a few things. While the application is available now, users should eventually be able to find and manage these new options within the standard “Wallpaper & style” section of their phone’s settings.

The “Theme packs” app, identifiable by its unique package name on the Play Store, became available on November 4, 2025. It is compatible with the Pixel 6 model and all newer Pixel devices. Although the app itself has been released, Google has not yet confirmed the exact date when the theme packs will be fully switched on for everyone to start using.

Because Google recently issued a second security update for October 2025, it remains unclear when the next major software update—which might include the full launch of this cool personalization feature—will arrive.
