Google Photos says goodbye to its last unlimited storage option

Google Photos became a hit thanks to one big perk: unlimited storage for your pictures and videos. But that free ride ended for most people back in 2022. One group held out longer—T-Mobile customers with a special deal. Sadly, even that’s coming to an end now. Back in 2022, T-Mobile teamed up with Google to launch a unique plan called “2TB + Unlimited Google Photos.”

It was just $15 a month and open only to folks on active T-Mobile service. The deal gave you 2TB of space through Google One for all your files, but here’s the sweet part: any backups from Google Photos didn’t eat into that limit. It was a smart way to keep snapping away without worry. That all changes after September 30, 2025. T-Mobile has pulled the plug on new sign-ups for Google One add-ons like this one.

If you’re already on the plan, you’re good to keep going for now. But if your subscription slips or you try switching to something else—like one of Google’s new AI-focused tiers—you can’t go back. Once it’s gone, the unlimited Photos backup is history too.

Word from T-Mobile: “Starting September 30, 2025, we won’t offer new Google One enrollments through our plans anymore.” People online, like on Reddit, have checked and confirmed that current users are still hanging on, but nobody new can jump in.
