Google’s Gemini AI is getting a “Skip” button for quicker answers

Google’s newest artificial intelligence, called Gemini, is very good at thinking deeply about complex topics, especially the newest Gemini 3 version. However, when you ask it an easy question, like simple math or a basic fact, this “deep thinking” often takes too long. Because of this, the AI assistant can sometimes waste your time and use up extra resources that weren’t necessary for a straightforward answer.

Luckily, Google is working on a fix to this delay. A new update for Gemini will soon let users quickly stop the lengthy thinking process and switch to a much faster, lighter model. This handy feature will appear as a simple Skip button that shows up right when Gemini starts thinking hard about its answer. Tapping this button instantly tells the AI to use the quicker Flash model, giving you a reply right away.

What makes this “Skip” feature helpful is that it forces Gemini to give you a straight answer instead of writing out a long explanation of how it figured things out. This is perfect for questions that have simple, known answers, such as finding a general piece of information or solving a direct math problem. Using the skip option might not be the best idea for questions that really need the AI to think deeply, as it could lower the quality of the response in those special cases.

Reports suggest that Google has already started testing this new button with a small number of users. The test seems to be random and is connected to a user’s Google account, meaning it should work the same way whether you are using Gemini on your phone or on a computer. Although we are not sure exactly when Google will officially release this feature to everyone, we have already found lines of code that strongly suggest the ability to skip in-depth thinking is on its way.
