iOS 26.1 beta brings small but useful changes for iPhone users
Apple has started rolling out the first beta of iOS 26.1 to developers, introducing a few new tweaks and improvements after the release of iOS 26 last week. While the update isn’t major, it adds some practical changes that make the iPhone experience a bit smoother.
One of the most noticeable updates is in Apple Music. The app now includes a dedicated “Favorites” playlist that automatically gathers songs marked as favorites. This gives users a quick way to revisit their top picks without having to build the playlist manually. Apple has been making music discovery and organization easier, and this feature continues that effort.
Another useful change is in the Settings app. Under Notifications, users will now see a new section that highlights apps sending frequent alerts. This makes it easier to manage which apps should be allowed to notify you and helps reduce unnecessary interruptions.
Apple has also made small design adjustments to improve the overall experience. The Wallet app has been slightly refreshed with cleaner layouts, while the Messages app gets smoother animations for sending and receiving texts. These are subtle touches, but they add polish to daily usage.
For iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max users, Apple has added camera improvements that refine image processing in certain lighting conditions. Photos taken in low light should now show better detail and less noise, continuing Apple’s focus on photography quality.
As usual, iOS 26.1 also includes bug fixes and performance improvements aimed at making the system more stable. Since this is just the first beta, Apple is expected to add more features and refinements in upcoming versions before the final public release.
The iOS 26.1 beta is currently available for developers, with a public beta likely to follow soon. The final version should roll out to all iPhone users later this fall.
