iPhone 17 could be Apple’s most expensive phone yet
Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 17 lineup in September 2025, and early reports suggest it could be the company’s most expensive smartphone launch so far. Industry analysts believe Apple may increase prices across some models, mainly due to higher production costs and new design upgrades.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max, which might also be called the iPhone 17 Ultra, is rumored to be the most costly model in the lineup. Estimates suggest its starting price could go beyond $1,300 in the United States, making it even pricier than today’s iPhone 15 Pro Max. In fact, the high-end model could reach close to $1,600, depending on storage options.
One of the main reasons for the expected price hike is the use of advanced technology and premium materials. Apple is rumored to be adding a slimmer design, a stronger titanium build, and improved cameras, including a high-resolution front camera. Along with this, a new “super telephoto” zoom lens may be introduced exclusively in the Pro Max model, further increasing production costs.
Reports also suggest that Apple is working on reducing the screen bezels, which requires expensive manufacturing methods. In addition, supply chain costs, inflation, and the rising price of materials are pushing Apple to adjust pricing. Analysts believe that while the standard iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Plus may remain closer to current price levels, the Pro and Pro Max versions will likely see the biggest jump.
Apple has a history of keeping its base iPhone models at the same starting price for years, but the company often raises costs for premium models when major design or hardware changes are introduced. If these predictions are accurate, the iPhone 17 Pro Max could become the most expensive iPhone Apple has ever released.
The official pricing will be confirmed at Apple’s September event, but expectations are already high. For many, the question will be whether the new features are worth the extra cost.
