Intel and other chipmakers can’t supply to Huawei anymore as Trump administration halted license

Things were already messed up with Huawei and the Trump administration has given another major blow to the Chinese tech giant. As per the latest report by Reuters, the Trump administration has notified Huawei that it is canceling certain licenses that were granted to its supplier including Intel.

US President Donald Trump doesn’t seem happy with the Chinese companies as the administration has also recently blacklisted Chinese companies including Xiaomi and eight others. Although these things are expected to change as the newly elected president of the United States, Joe Biden will take the charge from January 20, 2021.

Not only declining the licenses, but the administration is also planning to reject several applications for the licenses to supply services and other parts to Huawei. In regards to the situation, Reuters reports that the Semiconductor Department had issued “intents to deny a significant number of license requests for exports to Huawei and a revocation of at least one previously issued license.”

The sources have said that there is more than one revocation, while the other source has suggested that eight licenses have been yanked from four companies. In the country, the company that receives the ‘Intend to deny’ notices have 20 days response time, and the commerce department has 45 days to advise them of any change in the decision or it becomes final. After this, the companies have another 4 days to appeal the decision.
