One UI 8 update hits Samsung Galaxy XCover 7 and M54 smartphones

Samsung is now sending out the One UI 8.0 software, which runs on Android 16, to the Galaxy XCover 7 rugged phone in several parts of the world. The company usually gives fresh software versions first to its latest and top-tier gadgets, then to older budget models, and finally to special ones like the XCover line.

It kicked off the One UI 8 rollout last month, and based on past habits, we figured the unique devices would get it toward the close of November. But Samsung is moving much quicker than planned. That’s why it’s already pushing the One UI 8 update to the Galaxy XCover 7. This software package has the build number G556BXXUBDYIA, and it’s showing up in places like Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

To grab it, just head to your phone’s Settings menu, tap Software update, and hit Download and install.A few days back, Samsung also began sharing the same One UI 8 update with the Galaxy M54, which is like a budget cousin to the A-series phones. For this device, the update comes with build number M546BXXU9EYI4, and it’s available in spots including Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The installation steps are the same as above. We’ll soon add this firmware file to our download area, so you can grab it and set it up by hand with Samsung’s Odin program if you prefer. One UI 8 comes packed with lots of fresh touches that make your phone feel smoother and more fun to use. Keep in mind, though, that the Galaxy M54 and XCover 7 might not get every single perk, particularly the smart AI bits tied to things like Now Brief. Here’s a quick rundown of the cool additions:

• The Calendar app lets you flip easily between Reminders and Events.
• DeX mode now uses Android 16’s built-in desktop setup, giving it a fresh look and extra tools.
• Galaxy AI’s Drawing Assist tool adds even more art styles to play with.
• In the Gallery, you’ll find a cleaned-up menu, a quick way to wipe out background noise from audio clips, and a safer spot for private photos.
• My Files gets a sharper, more modern starting screen.
• The Notes app can now zap noise from voice recordings right away.
• Now Bar pulls in stock prices too, thanks to Google Finance.
• Now Brief reads out summaries in your voice choice and adds handy cards for stuff like remembering where you parked or quick YouTube clips.
• The Quick Panel has a subtle new style.
• Quick Share pops up full-screen with clear sections for sending or getting files.
• Reminders come with extra category options to sort things better.
• Samsung Internet sports a revamped menu and tab setup.
• The weather app brings back fun 3D moving graphics.
