Samsung teams up with rival LG’s partner to check Galaxy S26 processor quality

Samsung has decided to hire one more company to check the quality of its new smartphone processor, which will power the upcoming Galaxy S26 phones. This decision means the company is now working with three different businesses to test its latest in-house chip.

The new partner is a company called LB Semicon. This business is closely linked to the LG family through a larger corporate entity known as LB Group. LB Semicon will now be responsible for testing the high-end chip, known as the Exynos 2600, that is planned for the Galaxy S26 lineup. This is a big step for LB Semicon, as the company usually only handles testing for Samsung’s less powerful, mid-range processors.

Samsung decided to bring in LB Semicon because it expects to produce many more Exynos 2600 units compared to earlier chips. Simply put, the volume of production is expected to grow significantly, which requires extra resources for quality control before the chips can be used.

The main job for this LG-related company involves checking the chips right after they are manufactured. They will handle a specific step called “wafer testing,” where they look closely at the finished electrical design to find out if any of the tiny individual chips have a flaw or defect. LB Semicon has already started installing new equipment into its factory in Anseong to prepare for this large-scale assignment.

It is important to know that LB Semicon is not working alone on this project. Samsung is still keeping its two existing testing partners, Doosan Tesna and Nepes, to also examine the Exynos 2600. Interestingly, LB Semicon was the same company that handled the initial testing of the Tensor processor wafers when Google first used chips that were manufactured by Samsung.
