Samsung’s One UI 8.5 software update for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is moving ahead

Samsung is making good progress on One UI 8.5, the upcoming major software update for the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The development of this new software version appears to be proceeding without any issues. In September, we first saw a preview of a test version running on Samsung’s internal systems. Since then, a newer test file has emerged, which clearly confirms that the development process is continuing without major issues.

One UI 8.5 is expected to be officially released in 2026, coinciding with the launch of the new Galaxy S26 line of smartphones. Samsung will start rolling out the One UI 8.5 update for its older foldable phones after those Galaxy S26 devices are released and put on sale. Both the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be part of this.

Samsung was initially preparing to launch One UI 8.5’s public testing program, or beta, in November. However, the beta testing program will probably be delayed as well because the Galaxy S26 series launch is now anticipated to occur a bit later than initially anticipated. It is still anticipated that the user test program will start before the end of this year, notwithstanding this possible resistance.
