Google and Apple team-up to attack Samsung Pay in South Korea

Google Pay has arrived in South Korea, and that could become a problem for Samsung. Some new inputs reveal that offline merchants in the native region are using Google payment services rather than Samsung Pay to complete online transactions via NFC (Near Field Communication).

With the onset of this month, it was confirmed that the Korean region blocking (van) was lifted in the “Google Wallet” update that integrates Google Pay. Thus, it’s possible to access the service with a Korean user account, registering a credit or debit card that can effectively support both Google Pay and the Korean menu service.

Note that Korean users cannot access Google Pay from the Play Store but from APK File. After the van facility, offline payments are possible in the region which was out of order in previous versions.

Since Google Pay offers simpler services than Samsung and hence, it won’t be a surprise if users in South Korea start using a new payment service for online transactions. Meanwhile, the Galaxy phone maker needs to fight in its home ground for the expansion of its payment services.
