YouTube Shorts ban certain links to fight against spam

YouTube Shorts not only plays a significant role in entertaining its users but also cares for their privacy. In the latest edition, YouTube Shorts ban certain comment links in the application to fight against spam and protect users’ security.

According to the official support page, YouTube Shorts ban some specific links across the platform to restrict spam content. The company will initiate this action on August 31. Consequently, it will comprise the removal of clickable links in significant locations such as comments and descriptions.

Explaining the need for this activity, YouTube quotes that often such links result in malware, phishing, or scam-related content. Hence, by the end of this month, the company will skip the link part of the app. But wait! That’s not it.

YouTube will start rolling out a pseudo-replacement for creators to use on August 23. New links will appear on channel pages near the subscribe button, where creators can link to social media, websites, and more.
