Apple plans to upgrade the entry-level Apple headset AirPods this year and launch the second-generation AirPods Pro next year. According to the latest news, the new entry-level AirPods to be released this year is the first upgrade of this Apple headset since its launch in March 2019 and will use the same design as AirPods Pro.
The earplug protective sleeve of the new entry-level AirPods has been redesigned, and the earphone handle at the bottom of each earplug is also shorter. People familiar with the matter also said that the second-generation AirPods Pro to be released next year is also the first upgrade of the product since its release in October 2019.
The headset will be equipped with better motion sensors and provide fitness tracking functions. There are reports in 2020 that Apple previously planned to release the new AirPods Pro as early as this year.

The upgrade of Apple’s wireless headset products will help the company’s revenue from wearable devices, home appliances, and accessories continue to grow. At present, Apple’s business is growing rapidly. The current annual revenue has exceeded US$30 billion, accounting for more than 10% of the company’s total revenue. An Apple spokesperson declined to comment.
The last time Apple released a wireless headset product was the AirPods Max wireless headset noise-canceling headset launched in December last year. This $549 headset product has been criticized for its high price, but the material selection and sound quality have won widespread praise from the industry and abroad.
Until recently, Apple’s production capacity has caught up with consumer demand for this headset product. Apple has not yet developed a second-generation AirPods Max, but the company has revealed that this product will have more colors to choose from in the future.
According to reports, Apple is also developing a HomePod speaker with a built-in screen and a device that integrates HomePod, FaceTime cameras, and Apple TV set-top boxes. These products under development are part of Apple’s home, audio, and accessories strategy. Of course, speakers with screens are nothing new.
Apple released a HomePod mini speaker last year and made a minor upgrade to the Apple TV set-top box last month. It is reported that Apple also plans to remove the earphone handle of the new AirPods Pro to make this earphone look more compact. This design will make its debut on Beats’ new wireless headset products to be released next month.
