Google unveils Pixel 8 Pro with Tensor G3 chip, 7 years of OS support and more

Google finally unveiled the latest Pixel lineup, including Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, which offers sophisticated features, functionalities, and a long OS upgrade support. Yes, Google has revised its software update policy and promises to offer the newly launched device up to 7 years of OS upgrades and security patches.

One of the main highlights of the Pixel 8 Pro smartphone is the inclusion of the latest Tensor G3 chip. In addition, the firm also packed a thermometer on the back of the phone. The new Pixel adopts a more rounded design and ditches the sharp corners of last year’s Pixel 7 family.

The camera sensor design is also new on the 8 Pro, with cameras fitted behind one glass piece instead of two. It features a flat 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display offering a 3120×1440 pixel resolution and a 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The device further measures 162.6 x 76.5 x 8.7mm and weighs 213 grams. It brings up to 2,400 nits maximum brightness and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.

Under the hood, this device packs the new 4nm processor coupled with 12GB of RAM, up to 1TB storage in the US, and 512GB elsewhere. The battery on the device has been bumped up to 5,050mAh with support of 30W wired and 23W wireless charging support.

The Pixel 8 Pro features a 50MP primary shooter, a 48MP ultrawide lens with upgraded autofocus, and a 48MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom. For selfies, there’s a 10.5MP camera on the rear. The handset also brings all the latest connectivity options including WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC.
