Huawei P40 Tips and Tricks: How to enable Always On Display on Huawei P40 [EMUI 10.1]

Always On Display is a feature that lets you see important information on your lock screen so you don’t even have to touch your phone to stay up to date. You can customize your lock screen to display the time, date, currently playing music, the weather, your next alarm.

With EMUI 10.1, Huawei has brought a brand new Micro-Stereoscopic AOD. This new upgrade to the colorful AOD, makes the screen display look more vibrant and three dimensional.

The work behind this new 3D AOD, based on three layers – foreground, widgets, and background, this whole mechanism makes AOD appears in 3D.

Currently, only Huawei P40 series supports the 3D AOD feature but we can expect Huawei to roll it out for devices with OLED displays including Huawei Mate 30 series and P30 series with an EMUI update.

How to enable Always On Display on the Huawei P40:

  • Go to Settings
  • Home screen & wallpaper
  • Always On Display, and enable
  • Always On Display

You can also set the Start and End times according to your preferences.

How to set Clock Style for Always On Display:

You can customize the clock style for Always On Display according to your preferences.

On the Always On Display screen, touch Clock style, and swipe across to view the available clock styles. Select a preferred clock style, and touch the Right sign.
