Google has finally released Android 14 beta 1 with various new tweaks for the device system, including a transparent navigation bar. After two developer previews, the tech maker is rolling out the first beta version with some interesting and helpful features to its users.
Eventually, the latest Android 14 beta version ends a troubling point about specific Android applications, with a new navigation bar feature. As of now, smartphone users will be able to set the navigation bar background color to transparent, by default.
So far, several users requested Google to make the navigation bar transparent. A major reason behind this request is, the background of the navigation bar appears black in certain apps, which results in giving a separate look with light-themed UIs.
On the flip side, other apps and services show a transparency that becomes visually inconsistent. Although things are finally changing and taking a positive turn in this aspect.
Consequently, Google added transparency as an optional tweak so that it may not coincide with the key UI elements in apps. With Android 14 beta, users will get a toggle to set the background color of the navigation bar to transparent by default.
You can access the feature by visiting Settings > System > Developer options ‘transparent navigation bar’. Notably, this action won’t cause an overlap between the app and the navigation bar.

In addition, you may also find a Material You-themed back arrow in gesture navigation that adjusts to complement the phone’s theme or wallpaper. Since it is a beta build, we cannot say whether it is possible to see these features in the stable release or not. Perhaps, you can test these interesting elements, if you carry an eligible Pixel handset.
