Google has kicked off the Android 14 Beta 3.1 update, this time with some notable fixes for the fingerprint unlock issue. On the flip side, the firmware makes its way to the Pixel devices with the latest June 2023 security patch.
Unlike other Android 14 beta builds, the 3.1 version is a minor update with a few fixes for Pixel smartphones that were stuck on the fingerprint problems. As per the details, the last beta upgrade has broken the fingerprint sensor and affected its functioning (read the full story HERE).
Improving the respective section, Google pushed off the 3.1 beta update with the UPB3.230519.014 version. Alongside fixes, the Pixel phone owners will get the benefits of the June 2023 security patch as well. You can check the changelog below.
Android 14 Beta 3.1 Changelog
- Fixed issues where Fingerprint Unlock was either unavailable or unusable on some devices.
- Fixed platform compatibility issues that were affecting mapping SDKs which caused dependent apps to crash in some cases.
This rollout is accessible to Pixel devices ranging from 4a (5G) to Pixel 7 series. Those who have already enrolled in the Android Beta Program are obtaining the 3.1 firmware over the air. However, you can even check the new version under Settings > System followed by the System Update option.

It is worth mentioning that you should have plenty of battery life and storage space to install the update. The download process will be quick but installation may take a while, based on your model. Being beta builds, it is obvious find bugs and issues on the handset. Perhaps, Google will continue to roll out improvements and fixes in the time ahead.
