Google has recently shared a new blog post on the official security page and read out how Android 14 will protect users against cellular attacks. As per the details, Android 14 will land on board with first-of-its-kind cellular connectivity and security features.
Looking into the details, the US tech giant says that the Android Security Model considers all networks as hostile which aids to keep users safe from network packet injection, tampering, or eavesdropping on user traffic.
While things on this matter started taking place since Android 12, Google is now enhancing it with the upcoming upgrade. On Android 14, admins of Android Enterprise-managed businesses can restrict a device’s ability to downgrade to 2G connectivity.
Other options comprise always keeping the 2G radio off or ensuring employees are protected when traveling to specific high-risk locations to counter 2G traffic interception and Person-in-the-Middle attacks.

Ahead, Android 14 contains a new setting to disable support for null-ciphered connections at the modem level. It’s available for devices that adopt the latest radio HAL (hardware abstraction layer).
