Facebook could become an App Store, at least for EU users

Meta has some great plans for Facebook that can eventually turn the application into an App Store for EU users. That says the latest headlines surfing on online social media platforms. Accordingly, this strategy is a reflection of the Digital Markets Act passed by the European Union’s parliament.

As per the details, a Meta spokesperson disclosed that the company could implement new changes on Facebook, which will let it work as an App Store. The aim is to help developers distribute their apps efficiently among consumers. It will further enable users to install the app directly from the social app, without running towards App Store or Google Play.

On the flip side, this will help Meta to compete efficiently with other app stores in the market. The company has been in a tough stage since Apple brought the safety measures, making tracking hard enough.

Though Facebook Ads already promote apps, but users redirect to the respective app stores for each operating system. By offering the apps directly from Facebook, Meta believes that more people will end up downloading these apps, which should bring positive results for both developers and the platform itself.
