Google Messages Photomoji feature now available widely

Back in 2023, the Google Messages app got a new feature called Photomoji and it was available for some beta testers so far. But now, following the January 2024 Feature Drop, Google seems to be making this Photomoji feature available for a wider audience as non-beta participants of the Messages app are seeing it on their Pixel phones.

Thus, if you own a Pixel phone then you can enjoy the functionalities of Photomoji in the Google Messages app. You can look for this new tab in the emoji/expressive picker option. Or just wait, as Google Messages will subtly indicate that Photomoji is live on your device with a circular badge over the emoji button in the compose field.

To be mentioned, users can add new emojis by long-pressing on an SMS text or RCS chat and scrolling to the end of the reactions bar for Create. There is also an option for Searching for things to make Photomoji. Once you are done, just tap on the Send button, and the Photomoji will be delivered as a reaction.

Consequently, the Photomoji you have and others sent to you will appear in a new Custom tab next to Emoji, GIFs, and Stickers, as well as the reactions strip. Moving on, you can quickly sort these Photomojis by All, Yours, and Others, for a convenient and more optimized experience.
