Google Wallet new Photo option for QR and barcode passes started rolling out

Google Wallet has introduced a new option that enables users to add a Photo pass by snapping a barcode or QR code. This feature is gradually rolled out and will take some time to be available for eligible users. Once available, users will be able to create a pass using a photo with a barcode or QR code.

The Google Wallet app in the Play Store has also undergone a versioning change, adopting a system similar to Google Play services. The app is now labeled as version 23.38.x instead of 2.203.x.

The app also provides a home screen icon, with the help of which the payment and card list functionality can be accessed from the “Wallet” Quick Settings Tile without launching the app.

It’s worth mentioning that the redesigned Wallet UI, which offers a more compact interface, is currently only widely available on the Pixel 8, 8 Pro, and Fold devices. The ID Card option, which was recently added, is supported on Fold devices.
