Samsung Always On Display latest update can get you stuck in a loop

Samsung has recently rolled out a new update for Always on Display. The new build looks like a normal update but it may get you stuck in a loop. Samsung releases updates to improve the functionalities and features of its applications, but sometimes these builds contain viruses which result in a ruined experience.

According to the information, after installing the latest update of Samsung Always On Display users get stuck in a weird AOD loop, where they cannot unlock their phones or access any functions. The screen keeps switching between the AOD and the lock screen, without responding to any input.

However, Samsung has not yet officially responded to this matter or released any fix, so if you have not yet upgraded the AOD on your Galaxy device then, wait for some time, instead of making a hurry. On the other side, the changelog of the latest AOD update that comes with version 8.7.96.12 mentions some fixes like:

  • Fixed an error in which widgets were not displayed on the lock screen after entering/exiting Ultra Power Saving Mode
  • Fixed an error in which the carrier and notification icons overlapped in the status bar of the lock screen after rebooting
  • Fixed an error in which the date and notification icons overlapped in AOD
