Twitter to add new ‘Super Follow’ feature to offer extra benefits to the users

Recently, Twitter starts looking a whole lot shorter – starting today, the company lets all users tweet (and view) pictures in 4K on iOS and Android. Twitter’s web app already supports high-resolution images (at resolutions up to 4096 x 4096), but mobile apps were limited to only half, with a maximum resolution of 2048 x 2048.

The company had earlier started testing 4K image upload as an option for mobile users earlier this year, and it seems that those tests have gone well, as from now on it will bring convenience to all users starting.

And now, Twitter is internally testing a variety of features designed to enable alternative revenue streams for the company. One of the many ways the social media giant is trying is to create a feature called “Super Follow” that allows users to get additional benefits from their follow-up accounts.

The feature was found by popular software reverse engineer Jane Manchan Wong, who posted a screenshot of what the “Super Follow” button would look like. The button can be either a small circular button or a large tablet-shaped button with “Super Follow” text inside.

It is not clear what exact benefits you get from super following an account. One perk is the ability to share exclusive content on Twitter fleets that can only be viewed and commented on by accounts that are “super follow”.

Twitter is also testing some other changes, such as a direct “tipping button”, a more uniform color scheme for the UI, and a new font called “Chirp”.
